The Palmwood guesthouse is a curated lodging experience. The hilltop retreat, inspired by the mountain Ryokans (country inns) of Japan, is nestled amongst the rolling green hills of Moloa'a - a lesser known enclave on the North Shore of Kauai, Hawaii.

Founded by Eddi Henry in 2006, The Palmwood is a “think and action tank” geared toward solving the most pressing social justice issues of our day such as drugs, crimes, homelessness, poverty, illiteracy, and self-destructive values, attitudes and behaviors which are tearing apart not only some individuals, but also the fabric of our whole society. As guests, you will be given the opportunity to learn about social renewal, join the conversation and be a part of the revolution for change!

The Palmwood embodies the Japanese principles of Wabi Sabi, a way of life that celebrates the perfectly imperfect, providing a sanctuary for the body as well as the mind. In Japanese Society, the Country Farm House holds an almost mythic position seen as the custodians of the nation’s all important rural traditions and the backbone of its food supply. In touch with the seasons, and the spirit world governing fertility and fortune, the farmer is caretaker of the nations spiritual values. Eddi practices gratitude in her daily life having been raised by a Mother who nourished her with foods that had purpose and served as medicine. The same was practiced in raising her Family and in feeding Friends and Community. Food is Medicine, Food is healing.

Spaces are well thought out and elegantly appointed with furniture from Australia's renowned Pacific Green Furniture and various local artisans. Offering rustic charm and a simpler way of life without forgoing the small luxuries that make it all worth it. The beautiful setting is ideal for those seeking a destination spot away from the crowds. Yet, the location is central providing a great jumping off point for those wanting to explore all sides of the island: the picturesque North Shore encompassing Hanalei, Haena and the famous Na Pali Coast, the small local towns and homesteads dotting the Eastern Shore, the restaurants, resorts, and golf courses along the South Shore and in Poipu, and the Naturalist's dream - Waimea Canyon on the West Side.

The Palmwood is proud to be the founder of the Kuleana Village Project, a replication of the Delancy Street Foundation. Headquartered in San Francisco and founded by world renowned Change Agent Dr. Mimi Silbert, the Delancy Street Foundation is a model of social entrepreneurship, of education, of rehabilitation and change that is exciting and full of hope. Kuleana is the value of responsibility. It drives self-motivation and self-reliance, for the desire to act comes from accepting our responsibility with deliberate intent and with diligence. We want to be held accountable. Responsibility seeks opportunity. Opportunity revealed, creates anticipation, energy and excitement. Kuleana weaves empowerment, new learning and eager ownership into the opportunity which has been captured. There is a transformation in Kuleana, one that comes from ho‘ohiki, keeping the promises you make to yourself.

“This Property is an absolute hidden gem of almost unbelievable value in Kauai. When you drive up you’re like “Is this place even real?” The place is off-the-charts lush and verdant, private, and dripping in luxurious materials worthy of a five-star boutique hotel. One thing the property description does not mention, but which might seal the deal for you to know, is that the proprietors donate as much of their profits as possible to the Delancey Street Foundation in San Francisco, which provides rehabilitation and vocational training for substance abusers and convicted criminals. The East Room

Our most popular room. The East Room has its own private entrance, lanai (patio). En- suite shower. Hot outdoor shower and two person hot tub nestled in its private garden. The room is on the small side, however has an open and breezy feel with vaulted ceilings, french doors and large windows that showcase the surrounding gardens. Queen size Carialoha bamboo mattress.

The Bungalow

The Bungalow is our newest offering. 500 square feet. KIng Size Bed. Teak and Moroccan Plaster rain shower room. Wet Bar Credenza with Fridge.

Hot tub nestled in your tropical garden gazebo.

The West Room

The West Room has an identical interior floor plan as the East Room. Private entrance. En-suite shower. A generous lanai and two person hot tub nestled in your private garden with a tropical water feature of waterfalls and pond. Queen size Carialoha Bamboo Mattress.
